When people tell me that it “must be nice to not have a job right now” or comment on how much “free time” I must have, I want to punch them in the face.
Being a full-time, stay-at-home mother is far from “not having a job”.
I assure you that it is much more difficult than the job you have taking people’s food orders and cleaning tables.
And I do not have “tons of free time”. I am not only a mother but practically a wife. I may not have a ring on my finger but I have all the responsibilities of being a wife.
In between dirty diapers, feedings ever two hours, bath time, play time, soothing a crying baby, and countless doctors appointments….I clean the apartment, take care of the cats, cook for my boyfriend (who works 12 or more hours a day), run all the errands (since he never has time to), do a million loads of laundry, and countless other tasks that seem to pop up at the last minute.
So yes I do take offense to your ignorant comments. And no I will not help you when you call me one day and ask for advice when you are in the same situation.
